Day 3 on the drug Xifaxan for SIBO

January 29, 2017

SIBO is a small intestinal bacteria overgrowth in your stomach.  It is a gas that emits methane gas that can only be discovered with a breathe test.  Today is day 3 on the drug Xifaxan for SIBO.  This drug is suppose to take to kill the bacteria in my small intestine.

For those of you who have symptoms and don’t know what you have, you might have SIBO!  This blog post is for YOU!

Day 3 on the drug Xifaxan for SIBO!

Today has been the worst day on the drug!  The beginning of the day was literally hell.  My friends at Starbucks can tell that something is wrong with me and my chiropractor he noticed that I am off and that something isn’t right.

My mind I am loosing as I keep forgetting things, not remembering what I am doing, nor where I am going.   I am lucky I can find my car as I forget my keys, my purse, and I have to check to make sure I am dressed!  LITERALLY!  I am confused, my mind is foggy, and I don’t know if I am coming or going.

If you were to look at me you can tell a difference in my face, my energy, my mind, and my body.  I am all messed up and terribly confused.  People can tell that I am drugged up, and to be honest, I am not sure I should even be driving, or even walking!  I have not worked for several days!  I have no energy, no drive, no mojo, and I can’t figure out how to function normally at the moment.

The rashes come and go, along with my face swelling, and my stomach being bloated.  The swelling in my hands decreasing.

It is important to understand the side effects of any drug or herb that you take!

Day 3 on the drug Xifaxan for SIBO!

Day 3 on the drug Xifaxan has been difficult, so I am reading more about the drug.  The following is a clip form article that discusses the side effects of Xifaxan.  It states the following:

Xifaxan (rifaximin) is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of patients 12 years of age and older with traveler’s diarrhea caused by noninvasive strains of Escherichia coli (E coli), and to lower the risk of worsened brain function, or hepatic encephalopathy, in adults with liver failure.  Side effects of Xifaxan include:

  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • constipation
  • bloating
  • gas
  • stomach pain
  • feeling like you need to urgently empty your bowel
  • feeling your bowel is not completely empty
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • tired feeling
  • swelling in your hands, feet, or torso

SIBO is a bacteria that is hard to deal with, medicated or not mediated!

Day 3 on the drug Xifaxan for SIBO is kicking my butt!

The hardest part of having this is that I am doing this all on my own.  I can’t concentrate very well.  I have to focus very hard on what I am saying because I forget, and I find I say things that just aren’t me!

My muscles are killing me but I did 30 minutes of cardio today on the spin bike despite it being extremely difficult!  I am a go-getter and ball buster.  I have been sick for a long time and they have not been able to figure out why.  Til now.

Everything I eat was feeding the bacteria:  broccoli, onions, garlic, cauliflower, celery, oatmeal, apples….you get the idea!  I eat and juice all of those foods!

My muscles always hurting, no energy, body swelling, face swollen, and I feel like I was allergic to food.  I eat foods that are healthy and clean, so to feel like what I eat is making me sick makes no sense.

They say:  Fake it til you make it!  I have been!  Who knew that good, organic, raw and cooked foods fed a bacteria?  Just crazy!

Day 3 on the drug Xiflaxan for SIBO has been a struggle.

I am learning, I am exactly where I am suppose to be, going through this alone and it being such a struggle.  The best part of my path is this:

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!  I UNDERSTAND!  I am walking the path!
